Dear Commodore,
I thought that I would just
drop you a line to tell you that I have just managed to win a world championship
in the Dart 18 catamaran class in South Africa.
I was a member of PYC from 1984
until around 1992, when I left university and moved to London.
I have many happy memories of
sailing (and drinking!) throughout that period at the club, and I am sure that
the grounding I received learning to sail catamarans, first crewing and then
helming from 1987, on some of the best water on the South Coast, was a
contributory factor to my win.
I hope that the club continues
to encourage locals to sail and, who knows, foster more champions.
Wishing the Club every success
in the future,
Yours,
Jonathan Hutchings.
